Photo site with 1m users seeks RoR lead

We are a well-funded San Jose, CA startup that has grown to over 1 million users with a team of only 4 employees. The growth is accelerating, and we are hiring a Ruby on Rails developer to own the entire back end for the current site and the upcoming developer platform APIs. This position will be tough, yet extremely rewarding. You will own the entire back-end development of a platform used by millions of people.

Role:

• Architect and build the Platform
  
• API Specification and Implementation
• Own services architecture
• work directly with the co-author of RubyAMF. 
• Database architecture and scalability. 
• Deployment on various social networking sites.

Qualifications:

• Strong CS background required.
• VERY STRONG knowledge of Ruby on Rails and MySQL. 
• Comfortable working with Linux/UNIX: writing shell scripts, using cron, etc. 
• You’re addicted to problem solving, and settle for nothing less than the best solution. 
• Experience building and scaling web sites with at least 100k users. 
• Strong communication skills - if you have a problem with something, you speak up. 
• Extremely hard working. This is a start-up – long hours should be afraid of you because you own them. 
• Thrive on working with A-players. You’re too good to spend long hours with B-players.
• People like you and enjoy working with you. 
• Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent required, Masters is a plus.
