Startup TV network needs ROR help
We are a startup television network focused on local television in high-end resort markets. We currently operate local TV channels in Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Vail, Telluride and Aspen, and are rapidly expanding into other vacation markets. We create original content for each local market channel as well as programming that airs across our network. Our headquarters is located in New York City.
Working here is a fast-paced opportunity to learn while contributing to a brand new television network. We seek a talented, entrepreneurial, full-time web developer at our New York headquarters.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-starter to help build our online applications. Experience and knowledge of Ruby on Rails in a linux/freebsd server environment is highly desired, as is expertise in php and/or perl.
Skills: Ability to program code which generates standards compliant XHTML and CSS; Knowledge of Content Management or Digital Asset Management Systems.
Desired skills: An understanding of XML, XSD, and XSLT; BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience; 3+ years experience developing interactive, dynamic, data-driven, highly available websites and software systems; Strong knowledge of JavaScript (DHTML, AJAX, table-less layouts are a plus). Strong communication skills and ability to work on a team is absolutely vital.
Ongoing projects include: web development, digital asset management, weather data feed processing, video encoding and video streaming.
