Agile Development in RoR & Java

We're looking for a Java developer with outstanding coding skills and great imagination to help us deliver ground-breaking web solutions for our clients, which range from Web 2.0 start-ups to some of the largest corporations in the country. If your current job isn't giving you the opportunity to expand your skills and horizons -- or if you're feeling your imagination wither away -- we should talk.

You'd work as a key Java contributor on one of our tight-knit, agile development teams. We'd expect you to have advanced knowledge of Java and experience using a number of open source Java tools / frameworks such as Tomcat, Spring, Hibernate, OJB, Cocoon, Lucene / Solr, Wicket, Seam, etc. Experience with XSLT and web services is a major plus.

We're increasingly leveraging Ruby on Rails especially for our startup clients, so RoR experience is great. It's not all about coding, though: you'll need strong people skills, given the importance of communication in agile software development. We highly value people that are active in the open source community because of the communication and collaboration skills such participation requires; our team includes Apache Software Foundation committers.

Location? Agile has locations in NYC and Chicago. For this position, we'd prefer candidates from the NYC metro area.

Compensation? Highly competitive. This is a full time position, and we are open to a contract-to-hire scenario for the right candidate.

Brian Mariani, Ruby on Rails RecruiterHi, I’m Brian

I work at mirRoR, where we connect agile Rails developers and employers.

We started as Rails programmers ourselves (and are currently working on a few social, facebook, and iPhone apps). This background and network help us identify quality opportunities in the industry.

That’s especially important today. While many venture-backed web 2.0 startups are cutting costs amidst this economic climate, we are working with a number of companies that are self-sufficient, cash-positive, and well capitalized for the long-term.

I’d be eager to briefly discuss where you are in the process and see if there is a potential fit, either for the opportunities listed here, or those posted elsewhere.

Let’s chat!
