24/7 Rails-focused Support

We came about in early 2006 because we saw a genuine need: customers were developing business-critical Rails apps, but they didn't want to worry about deployment issues, nor did they want to hire IT staff to manage servers.

Customers wanted Rails-focused 24/7 operations support on top of great infrastructure, plus they wanted a smooth path from 100 users to 100,000 users.

That's what we are all about.

Perhaps most importantly, we really enjoy what we're doing and we believe in running a healthy, profitable business that will last well into the future.

To date, we’ve raised $37.5 million of funding with participation from Amazon.com, New Enterprise Associates, Inc. (NEA), and Benchmark Capital.

We are looking for two high level Ruby developers with strong agile backgrounds.

  • One designer with HTML/CSS implementation skills.
  • Ruby and JS experience a plus.

Both positions will be working on our main cloud products.

Requirements:

  • Well versed in test/behavior-driven development, pair-programming and continuous refactoring.
  • An expert Ruby programmer.
  • Deep expertise in Merb or Rails (you'll be programming in Merb and be helping with the Merb -> Rails migration path).
  • Professional experience deploying a production Rails or Merb application.
  • Familiarity with a javascript toolkit like prototype or jQuery (we use jQuery).
  • Pairing is caring. We need people who are comfortable working full-time with a fellow teammate and switching frequently to take new tasks.
  • Must work out of our San Francisco office in SOMA, no telecommuting candidates.

Bonus Points:

  • Have deployed a high-volume Ruby on Rails application.
  • Familiar with the Rails runtime stack, Apache/Passenger, Nginx/Mongrel, memcached, etc.
  • Knowledge of DNS, CDN, load balancing, firewalls, VPNs, SMTP, SSL, etc -- all the things that the make the web work.
  • Have deployed into the cloud.
  • Scaled databases.
  • Understand the principals of network-based filesystems (snapshots, clustered file systems).
  • Familiar with disaster recovery techniques.
  • Familiar with configuration tools like puppet or chef, or have done extensive systems configuration in dynamic languages.

We Offer:

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Flexible Spending Accounts - Medical and Dependent Care options
  • 401(k) Plan
  • 15 Days Paid Time Off per year
  • 10 Paid Holidays per year
  • Life and AD&D Insurance
  • Long-Term Disability
  • Transit Benefits
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Complimentary beverages and snacks at corporate headquarters
  • Comfortable and professional office atmosphere
  • Convenient to freeways and public transit

Brian Mariani, Ruby on Rails RecruiterHi, I’m Brian

I work at mirRoR, where we connect agile Rails developers and employers.

We started as Rails programmers ourselves (and are currently working on a few social, facebook, and iPhone apps). This background and network help us identify quality opportunities in the industry.

That’s especially important today. While many venture-backed web 2.0 startups are cutting costs amidst this economic climate, we are working with a number of companies that are self-sufficient, cash-positive, and well capitalized for the long-term.

I’d be eager to briefly discuss where you are in the process and see if there is a potential fit, either for the opportunities listed here, or those posted elsewhere.

Let’s chat!
